In what is a key appointment for the company, PIMSS has appointed Iain Arnison as Development Manager at our headquarters in Bromborough on the Wirral. This is officially a new role for the business and Iain will now head up a growing team of development specialists as he looks to implement a new strategic direction for the department.
Reporting into our Managing Director, Martin McDonnell, Iain is an advocate of continual improvement, early delivery, adaptive planning and encouraging rapid response to change. As such, one of Iain’s primary objectives is to implement an agile software development framework and strategy to further improve the experience of the company’s asset management customer base spread across England, Wales and Scotland.
“As far as I’m concerned it’s all about the customer experience,” comments Iain. “If we can de-risk the release of software developments, ensure that our solutions are always as up-to-date as possible and ensure continuous integration, then our clients can only benefit.”
In addition to his development expertise, Iain also has user interface and data analysis experience, key skills for the business. He is also a knowledgeable team leader and will be using these abilities to manage, mentor and progress his team of developers.
Iain’s development career commenced in the digital marketing agency sector in various roles before he moved to a pensions company where he established his leadership and management skills. He then moved to low temperature asset management specialist IMT before becoming Development Lead at Dnata, a group company including several travel agencies and Emirates Airlines.
Iain was born in Liverpool and has always lived on the Wirral, although commuted to Manchester and London for various job roles. He has a First Class Degree in Electronic Media obtained from Staffordshire University and in what little spare time he has, is a keen runner, swimmer and cyclist. He recently finished the Manchester Marathon, has completed several half Ironman events with the full distance next on his list, and has unsuccessfully attempted to enter the London Marathon 12 times!
Commenting on Iain’s appointment, Martin McDonnell said: “Iain comes on board with not only a vast amount of development expertise and experience but also at a vital time for the company. We have ambitious plans in place for all our software products, which require the specialist knowledge and skills that Iain has, and he is already proving an invaluable addition. His leadership and management skills are already adding great value to not only the development team, as we’ve seen their confidence and skills grow, but also to the business as a whole. I’m looking forward to working closely with him as we take our software applications and company to the next level.”
