Ruth Dent, an Asset Manager with 10 years of experience working in the social housing sector, has joined PIMSS Data Systems (PIMSS) as Asset Management Consultant. With a financial background, Ruth has specialist expertise in programmed renewal business planning, component accounting, stock assessments, NPV rationalisation and budget setting.
She has joined PIMSS at an important time for the company as it launches its latest software product, Viability, a stock assessment tool for analysing housing and associated stock performance. Ruth will take a leading role in helping housing associations to implement Viability and evaluate stock against both financial (NPV) and strategic sustainability criteria and then examine the effects of change.
In addition to her Viability commitments, Ruth will also be helping housing associations achieve maximum benefit from the company’s flagship software product - PIMSS Asset Management. In her role Ruth will offer whatever level of assistance is required, from a data healthcheck and short term project work through to longer-term interim support and even cover during a period of recruitment.
Prior to joining PIMSS, Ruth held a Head of Property position and played a pivotal role in establishing the brand new Maros Housing Association based in London, offering accommodation in the supported housing sector for vulnerable adults. Here she was responsible for developing the property services frameworks of policy, procedure, strategy and governance in order to obtain HA status.
Ruth commenced her career at North Star Housing Group in the North East and worked on the production and delivery of planned programmes and the implementation of the PIMSS Asset Management system. From there Ruth moved to Watford Community Housing Trust and then Wandle, both in the South East, where she was responsible for managing asset data and stock viability.
Previously from Kildale in the North Yorkshire Moors, Ruth studied Quantity Surveying at Leeds Beckett University and now lives in Milton Keynes.
Commenting on her appointment, Ruth says: “I’m delighted to have joined PIMSS at such an important time in their growth. As I have first-hand experience of the challenges faced by housing associations, I will use this knowledge to help them achieve maximum benefit and understanding from their data analysis to ensure they make informed decisions with regards to their asset stock. With regards to Viability, I have unique insight into what data housing associations should include, or indeed exclude, from their analysis, based on their unique circumstances, so am well placed to guide them through the process to ensure they achieve the best possible outputs.”
Commenting on Ruth’s appointment, Martin McDonnell, Managing Director at PIMSS says: “We have worked with Ruth for some time now as a client so know her capabilities and skills well. So when we had the opportunity to employ her it really was an easy decision. She brings so much valuable client-side knowledge and insight to the company and will help us take a significant step forward in respect of our own development and growth. And in terms of our new product, Viability, the timing of her appointment could not have been better as she will play a vital role in taking this to market.”
